I am experienced in a range of psychotherapeutic approaches such as Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapies (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT). I am particularly interested in mindfulness, guided imagery, and inner child work which can enhance a person’s ability to experience a deeper connection with themselves and others. In my experience, these valuable tools lead to improved mental well-being and a more fulfilling life.
My research interests include exploring the function and conceptualisation of worry and rumination and exploring how individuals can become more in control of their thoughts and emotions. I have presented my research at the National Clinical Conference 2013 on, Worry, Loneliness, and Coping Styles, and several papers at The National Counselling Psychology Conference on (1) The role of Worry and Rumination, 2017 (2) Repetitive Negative Thinking in Adolescents 2017 (3) Worry: overlooked by Counselling Psychology and overshadowed by the Medical Model 2018 (4) Conceptualisation of Worry 2019, (5) Walking the tightrope between my own needs and the perceived needs of society 2020 (Submitted). My current research is focused on exploring concepts and therapies which could help individuals regulate their emotions more effectively and manage emotional contrast.
