There are many types of anxiety that exist with a variety of features, spans, and signs. Some people manifested more than one type of anxiety and some have it as a feature in other mental health disorders such as depression, obsessive compulsory disorder, etc. there are some common types of anxiety. Each type of anxiety should last a maximum of six months for a diagnosis.
1. Specific Phobia
Having noticeable fear or phobia (without actual existing danger) about a specific object or event is called a specific phobia that object can be anything like flying, heights, animals, soft toys, etc. The phobic objects always arouse intense fear every time and the person deliberately avoids encountering that object.
2. Social Anxiety
It is having to fear one or more social situations. The person actually avoids attending the social gathering and finds it uncomfortable. It is anticipated by the person that he might do something that will humiliate him eventually and people evaluate him negatively. In children, social anxiety might hit while interacting with their peers or adult groups.
3. Generalized Anxiety Disorder
In this type of anxiety, individuals find it difficult to control their excessive worry. It is the persistent type of worry that stays with the person most of the day without any actual reason. A person experience mostly three of these symptoms like restlessness, muscle tension, sleep disturbance, anticipating some danger every time, and a blank mind.
4. Agoraphobia
This fear appears mostly between the age of 25 to 35. It is characterized by the following symptoms including having fear of open or enclosed spaces, making use of public transportation, distant from home, and standing in line or in crowded areas. People with this type of anxiety consciously avoid such situations as the thoughts having the subject that when they experience any panic attack symptoms the getaway or escape might be hard because no one is capable to offer them their help or ending up embarrassed. The agoraphobic needs the company of someone.
5. Panic attacks
It is not coded as any disorder but it is a condition that person experiences because of anxiety disorder or any other mental condition. It can also be encountered because of some medical conditions such as respiratory or heart-related diseases.
It is a sudden rush of severe fear or extreme discomfort that hold out a peak within seconds. The signs are sweating, heart racing, shortness of breath, chest pain, nausea, coldness, unsteadiness, and fear of dying or losing control. These symptoms can appear in both calm and anxious situations.
